Youth Programs

Each year we partner with local organizations to offer kayaking expeditions for Cortes Youth aged 10-12 and 13-17. Our Adventures in Leadership trip (ages 12-17) will be an overnight adventure to Marina Island, launching from the Gorge. The Teen Szene Adventure (ages 13-17) will be a two night expedition into Desolation South. Contact the Cortes Community Health Association (CCHA) for bookings and more information.

On our youth trips we focus on navigation, leadership, team building, paddling skills and marine ecology. These trips provide youth with skill building opportunities and self growth. These trips are open to several age groups ranging from 8-17. We partner with the CCHA on Cortes Island to offer free programming for local youth. We teach paddle techniques and kayak maneuvering. We will learn specific strokes (draw, forward, sweep, braces and edging) and possibly some rescue techniques!
